Review: Iron and Magic [Iron Covenant #1] 5/5 (1)
All , Fantasy / February 20, 2019

Review: Iron and Magic, a spin-off series by Ilona Andrews from the world of Kate Daniels, was a major surprise for me. The first book of a trilogy with just as much magic, mythical creatures and interesting characters – and yet I almost decided not to read it. What is the reason? High D’ambray.

I know many girls go head over heels for bad boys, I have fallen pray to this too, but me and Hugh – we just didn’t click in any of the books from the Kate Daniels series. He was hot, strong and sarcastic which are my three favorite things about male characters. Yet, he felt short, probably because I was comparing him to Curran all the time and because he failed in everything he tried.

Review: Magic Binds [Kate Daniels #9] 5/5 (1)
All , Fantasy / February 19, 2019

Review: Magic Binds is the 9th book of the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews and by now I am really out of nice things to say. Looking back I realize with awe how much more complicated and serious the story became without loosing its specific humor and passion. Most series fall prey to this but not this series – and thank god for that!

Kate has claimed Atlanta and she is trying her best to protect it from her father and every creature with ill intentions that crosses its borders. But her father is playing coy, building a castle just outside the limits, baiting her by entering her territory, sending spies and whatnot. But they both know that this game of cat and mouse can’t last forever.

Review: Magic Shifts [Kate Daniels #8] 5/5 (1)
All , Fantasy / February 18, 2019

Review: I’m done with book eight of the series and by now I love the series to death. Literally. It has been a long, long time since I loved books series with such passion and I missed it. And it is not just that I am so familiar and attached to the characters that I want to know what happens – each and every book is somehow different, it uncovers a new mystery and introduces two more. <3 In Magic Shifts we follow Kate around as she, Curran and Julie try to acclimate to their new life outside of the Pack and the Keep.

Review: Magic Breaks [Kate Daniels #7] 5/5 (1)
All , Fantasy / February 14, 2019

Review: Oh, how I missed Kate. Why did you stop reading it if you missed her so much, you’d ask? That’s a good question to which I have no answer. But I am so happy I found the time to get back into the world of Ilona Andrews that I am having hard time writing this review.

Magic Breaks is what you’d expect (in a good way) – Kate being badass smart-pants, risking her life and making impossible choices; Curran being sexy and protective and very scary when he roars; the Pack being well, dicks for the most of the time (

Review: A Discovery of Witches [All Souls #1] 3/5 (1)
All , Fantasy , Romance / November 14, 2018

Review: A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness was a bag of corn and green peas for me. You know what I mean. You don’t? Well, it means that it has a lot of things I liked (like corn) and a lot of things that made me ugh (like the peas). But the fact that I stayed until 9 a.m. to finish it suggest that maaaybe there was more corn in the bag than damn green peas.

I learnt about the book from the TV show with the same name. Now that I’ve read the book I’m astounded at how closely the TV Show is following the book plot – more than any other book screening I’ve ever seen. I really liked the show – well, most of it – so I decided to check out the book since we all know books are always better. And that’s where the bag of peas and corn appeared.

Review: Magic Rises [Kate Daniels #6] 5/5 (1)
All , Fantasy / May 11, 2018

Review: I am not sure why it took me this long to write this review. I devoured the first six books like Winnie The Pooh a pot with honey but then I hit a ditch. Now finally, I crawled out of the ditch 😀 So let’s focus on the beautiful 6th book of the Kate Daniels series, Magic Rises, by Ilona Andrews.

The story this time moves to a new location, Georgia, Europe, where Kate and Curran are invited to settle a dispute for a pregnant lady and three rivaling packs. The author’s humor shows in everything she does – the pregnant shifter is expecting twins and each of them is from a different man part of the two of the rivaling packs.

Review: Magic Bites [Kate Daniels #1] 4/5 (1)
All , Fantasy / March 23, 2018

Review: Magic Bites by the duo Ilona Andrews is a book long overdue in my reading list. First one from the series about Kate Daniels, it is supposed to be interesting, action-packed and make me fall in love with and/or want to be Kate. Or at least that’s what Asya’s Adventures ORL keeps telling me.

I started reading Magic Bites in my short break from ‘The Sword of Truth: Stone of Tears’ and I didn’t realize when I finished it in a single breath (okay, maybe two). Rather short but full with events and action, it is easy to read and so entertaining every time I look at the page count I am 30+ pages in.

Review: Dark Days [Skulduggery Pleasant #4] 5/5 (1)
Adventure , All , Children Literature , Fantasy / January 12, 2018

Review: Dark Days is the fourth book of the famous series Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy and my favorite one so far. I will go ahead and assume you have already read the previous ones – with this one you can expect a great amount of action, dark and witty humor, punching, threatening and boasting. And, yeah, and some dark, ominous prophecy.

To be honest with you, I don’t necessary think this is the best of Landy’s books but it certainly made me twice as invested in the story and in the characters.
